Hello advocates, judges, and anyone else reading this! I’m Nafis, and I’m a year 13 student from Bangkok Patana School. This will be my third time in a row chairing the ICJ (no comment on whether that is willingly or not), so I can assure you that I know what I’m doing! Furthermore, FOBISIA MUN 2017 will be my 25th MUN conference. My favourite subjects include History and Economics. Outside of MUN and academics, I enjoy playing VIDEO-games (as I have to clarify, because apparently there was some misinterpretation as to what I meant when I just said games previously) and worrying about whether or not I’ll actually get into university. I look forward to going through yet another 2 days of intense debate between advocates, followed by a General Assembly.

Nafis Mahboob
Purvaansh Lohiya

Hello everybody! My name is Purvaansh, but if you have trouble pronouncing that, Puru is probably the better option. I am a senior at Wells International School, currently pursuing -- or more accurately, trying to hold myself together while pursing -- the IB Diploma. While most of my interests are held up in Chemistry and History, I do have a special place in my heart for social activities geared at world issues and public speaking -- precisely where I met MUN.

I have attended 18 MUN conferences over the years, and I am not satisfied with them yet. For me, MUN is not solely about debating world issues and drafting resolutions that are subject to acceptance, it is also about just simply listening to the ideals of different students, asking them why do they do MUN, and having fun with them. I believe that if you don’t enjoy something, you will not grasp it’s true value.

Hopefully all of you will also find your kind of joy in this conference. I know I will, because at the International Court of Justice, I’m intrigued!

--Puru :)
